Peace process needs Clinton
COMEBACK kid Bill Clinton is fighting for his political life after owning up to a sexual affair with former White House worker Monica Lewinsky.
The President, his wife Hillary and daughter Chelsea faced the crisis together yesterday when they left Washington hand-in-hand for their holiday home.
It is now apparent that Mr Clinton mislead the American people as well as his family.
He should have made a frank admission months ago when he was first asked.
But the fact remains that his sex antics in the Oval Office were discovered by an investigation set up to inquire into financial corruption.
Kenneth Starr's crusade now looks like a personal vendetta.
Bill Clinton is a good friend of Ireland, north and south, at a time when the country needs its friends.
It would be a setback for peace efforts here if he is ousted from office ahead of his visit next month.
