SINCE the latest troubles began, every year has brought new outrages.
1972 - Dubbed Bloody Friday, the IRA blitzed Belfast with 26 bombs, killing 11 and injuring 130. And they began mainland campaign with a blast at Parachute Brigade HQ, Aldershot. Seven died.
1974 - Pub bombs in Guildford, Birmingham and Woolwich kill 28. Twelve die when soldiers' coach is blown up on M62 near Leeds. Loyalists set off car bombs in Dublin and Monaghan, killing 33, including two babies.
1978 -12 die in fireball attack on La Mon House restaurant, Co. Down. At Warrenpoint, 18 soldiers die. The same day, Lord Mountbatten, his grandson and a friend are blown up.
1982 - 11bandsmen and soldiers die in IRA attacks on Hyde Park and Regent's Park. The INLA kill 17 at Droppin Well bar, Ballykelly.
1983 - Six die in blast outside Harrod's.
1984 - Margaret Thatcher escapes death when IRA blows up Brighton's Grand Hotel. Five die.
1985 - Nine RUC officers killed in mortar attack at Newry.
1987 - 11 die in blast at Enniskillen on Remembrance Day.
1988 - Loyalist shoots dead three at funeral for IRA trio shot by SAS in Gibraltar. In Lisburn, six soldiers blown up after charity fun run.
1989 -11 bandsmen die in blast at Deal, Kent.
1992 - Bomb outsideLondon's Baltic Exchange kills three.
1993 - Jonathan Ball, three, and Tim Parry, 12, die in Warrington bomb. Ten people, including two children, die in blast at fish shop on Shankill Road.
1996 - IRA ceasefire ends with Docklands bombing, killing two.
