GLENGARRIFF ladies Honorary Secretary Gesine Pelka-Bastian has emerged as one of the weekend's leading hot shots following a 48 pointer in Johnny Barry's Christmas hamper competition. Playing off 29, Gesine had six to spare over runner-up Cathy Hourihan. A great performance also by Cork one handicapper Padraig Dooley who scored a great 69 gross of the back sticks on a day when the css was calculated at 72.
Killarney 21 handicapper Vivien Gleeson posted a 66 nett to win the AIB Bank prize by a shot from Ellen Anne Sugrue. Another Kerry player in top form was Leo Foley who scored 44 points in the Founders Cup competition at Castlegregory.
Trevor Calnan, with 44, had one to spare over Pat O'Regan at Dunmore. A 44 pointer also at East Clare by John S Kelly who won the Omagh Appeal Fund competition by two from John McNamara, while Lismore ten handicapper Seamus Beecher also registered 44 points at the weekend.
