COWARDS HIDING BEHIND BOMBING

Cowards hiding behind bombing

THERE is hardly a person on earth who is not appalled by the scenes of carnage of the Omagh bombing.
Ireland has had its heroes, male and female, from Cu Chulainn, Brian Boru, Patrick Sarsfield, Padraig Pearse, Kevin Barry and countless others whose heroic deeds have lived on in song and story.
Where are our present day heroes? Cowards who hide behind anonymity, who plant bombs and then scamper to safety leaving the explosives to do their indiscriminate killings.
Are our heroes the cowardly politicians who refuse to name those murderers and who bluster and blabber out ambiguous replies when questioned about what to do with those people.
We long ago needed action, positive action, to take action of terrorists out of Irish politics and not the coining of new ambiguous phrases and slogans like "decommissioning" and New Deal etc.
The architects of those "double speaks", namely Ahern, Blair and Clinton, may have a lot on their plates at present, both personal and otherwise. Perhaps we may one day "chose" a straight-talking leader.
