Disaster trust fund is set up

A Dublin Mother, yesterday announced she has set up an Omagh disaster fund to help the families of the dead and the injured.
Mrs Mary Smith of Dun Laoghaire has been involved over the years in fundraising for Third World causes.
"I just felt I should do something to help these families to cope financially at this time of stress and tragedy," said Mrs Smith, who has opened a special bank account for contributions from the public.
"As a mother of two teenagers, I couldn't help thinking of the two girls aged 16 and 17, who were killed while working in the Oxfam shop in Omagh last Saturday", she said.
Mrs Smith said Irish Express Cargo has offered to carry free of charge, any gifts from the public to Omagh for the distressed families. Gifts, such as toys, may be handed in to the Kill-o'-Grange branch of the Bank of Ireland.
Contributions to the Omagh Family Disaster Fund may be made to t he Kill-o'-Grange branch.
