Memorial facilitation costs not yet calculated
Costings on the Independent Facilitation Process, which at last saw a narrative agreed for the Omagh bomb memorial, are not yet available, a council spokesperson has told.
Working alongside Dr John Dunlop was Rev Fr Brian Lennon SJ, on behalf of Community Dialogue NI, and Mrs Olive Hobson, representing Quaker House Belfast.
A statement from Omagh District Council noted that Dr Dunlop -a retired Presbyterian Minister - did not charge a fee, and will be reimbursed solely on the basis of mileage at the standard local government rate.
Both Quaker House Belfast and Community Dialogue NI will be reimbursed at their standard daily rate for the time spent by Olive Hobson and Brian Lennon on the process.
The statement continued: "At this stage it is not possible to accurately indicate the full costs of the independent facilitation process as many of the invoices have yet to be submitted.
"The Independent Facilitation Team was asked to meet with all of those affected by the Omagh Bomb who wished to do so. As a result they held over 80 private and confidential meetings. The outcome of the independent facilitation process in terms of participation by those affected, many of whom had never before spoken of their experiences or views, and in terms of the widespread acceptance of their recommendations is, undoubtedly, value for money."
