NEWLYWEDS TAKE TO THE SKIES IN AID OF TRAUMA CENTRE
Newlyweds take to the skies in aid of trauma centre
TWO daring newly-weds from Omagh will be taking to the skies this weekend to raise money for a local centre dedicated to helping those affected by the Troubles in Northern Ireland.
Garry and Lesley Wilson, from Hospital Road, are both doing a charity tandem parachute jump from 13,000 feet on Saturday in aid of the WAVE Trauma Centre, which works in supporting those are bereaved, traumatised and injured from over 30 years of violence in the province.
Garry feels strongly about doing this jump, as he himself has been personally affected. He lost his sister, Lorraine, in the Omagh Bomb on August 15, 1998, and feels that without organisations like the WAVE Trauma Centre, people would be struggling without the services they offer, such as befriending, counselling and complementary therapies.
Fundraising is a much-needed necessity to enable these services to continue.
A spokesperson for the Centre said: "We would personally like to thank Garry and Lesley in all they have done, in trying to raise much needed funds."
