Omagh film in line for BAFTA
THE award-winning drama based on the tragic events surrounding the 1998 Omagh bomb is in line for its biggest honour yet, with the news that it has been nominated for a BAFTA.
Omagh, the powerful tale of the Real IRA attack which killed 29 people, including a woman pregnant with twins, has been nominated in the Best Single Drama Award. The film, directed by Pete Travis, is up against Granada Television/ITV's Dirty Filthy Love, BBC2's Hawking and Company and Pictures/C4's Not Only But Always.
Michael Gallagher, chairman of the Omagh Support and Self-Help Group, who lost his son, Aiden, in the bomb, said: "I think it is a great honour for the film to be nominated for this award, and it is a testimony to the professionalism of everyone involved in the production, both in front and behind the camera.
