Omagh suspect denies terror
AN electrician accused of making the Omagh bomb has appeared before Craigavon Magistrates Court charged with plotting a series of terror strikes.
Sean Gerard Hoey (34), of Molly Road, Jonesborough, Co. Armagh, denies involvement in a string of attacks, which led up to the Real IRA bombing of the town on August 15, 1998.
In all, Hoey faces 20 charges involving explosives and membership of the dissident republican organisation behind the bombing, in which 29 people and unborn twin girls died. The charges include possession of a timer power unit between March, 1997 and August 16, 1998.
The accused is also charged with conspiring to cause explosions at a police station in Armagh, in Blackwatertown and in Banbridge, Co. Down, in the run-up to the Omagh bomb attack.
Hoey has already had a High Court bail application rejected.
Hoey appeared before Craigavon Court by means of video link, and the court was told that more time was needed to prepare the case against him.
The case was adjourned until August 19.
