Queen's Police Medal for Omagh bomb probe officer

A LONG standing and dedicated PSNI officer at Omagh has received prestigious recognition in the New Year Honours list.
Detective Inspector David Alexander McWilliams, whose career in the police force has now spanned a quarter of a century, has been named among those set to receive a Queen's Police Medal (QPM).
Married with two children, DI McWilliams has spent 21 of his 25 years police service as a detective in CID. He has served in Omagh, Armagh, Cookstown, Dungannon and Enniskillen.
He has investigated many serious terrorist and non-terrorist crimes and was on duty in the town on the day the Omagh bomb claimed 29 victims and unborn twins and has remained on the investigating team since its inception.
