FOR RECONCILIATION - 'LET US PRAY' (POEM)
For reconciliation - 'Let us pray'
Five years, they tell me, can that really be?
It seems like only yesterday to me,
That day (my birthday) sullied now for life,
But still no diminution of the strife.
That August day, forever in my mind,
That date forever firmly is defined,
Omagh - the very name spells utmost grief,
The anguish, still for many, past belief.
But hope must spring eternal at all times,
A brighter future, hopefully, now shines,
But still the hearts are sore, the scars are there,
The pain and anguish is beyond repair.
But let us live in hope and look ahead,
We owe it to the injured and the dead,
For those bereaved, the strength to meet each day,
For reconciliation - "Let us pray".
