Judicial review of report on Omagh bomb probe to open in High Court
A JUDICIAL review of the controversial Police Ombudsman's report into the Omagh bomb investigation is expected to open in the High Court today (Thursday).
The review has been sought by the Police Association, which represents officers at all ranks within the PSNI, in an effort to quash the severe criticism of the RUC, as it was then, by Mrs Nuala O'Loan's office.
Her report had criticised the way the first investigation into the 1998 bombing had been handled and singled out several individuals, including the then Chief Constable, for particular censure.
Sir Ronnie Flanagan, the then Chief Constable and Assistant Chief Constable Raymond White will argue that the report was 'inaccurate and error-ridden'.
The hearing is expected to last two days, but judgment is not expected until a later date.
