WAVE CENTRE TO HOST INFORMATION NIGHT

Wave Centre to host information night

WAVE, the organisation which helps people bereaved or traumatised as a result of Northern Ireland's 30 years of 'The Troubles', will be hosting a Welfare Advice Service Information Evening in the Omagh Wave Centre on Monday evening. The event will get underway at 7.30pm, and is an opportunity for anyone who ever wondered if the organisation's advice service could help with something. Others may feel they are unable to get to the Wave Centre during the day, and will find the evening information event the ideal opportunity to find out more.
The event will focus on Wave's Welfare Advice Service which deals with financial matters, such as social security benefits, debt, compensation and the Northern Ireland Memorial Fund.
Other areas covered by the service include housing issues, community care and education.
Wave has two advice workers who have both trained and worked with the Citizens' Advice Bureaux before joining Wave. They can offer people advice and information, as well as providing practical . help with completing forms and writing letters.
The Information Evening will get underway with a talk on what areas the welfare service covers, and an advice worker will then be able to talk to people in confidence on welfare matters afterwards. Refreshments are also available.
The event will end at 9pm. Those who are unable to attend but would like more information should contact the Omagh Wave Centre at 4 Old Market Building, Market Place, Omagh. The telephone number is 028 8225 2522.

Each course will have no more than 14 participants, and a requirement is that a personal journal will be recorded for the duration of the course.

There will also be an opportunity for group progress support meetings.
Issues dealt with will include children and trauma, building and sustaining relationships, support and new opportunities as well as evaluation.
Successful participants will be awarded a Level 2 accreditation with the Open College Network.
