WHO'S WHO AT THE INQUEST

THE Coroner is Mr. John Leckey. He has served as HM Coroner for Greater Belfast since 1992. He is the only full-time Coroner in Northern Ireland, and has been appointed specifically by the Lord Chancellor, Lord Irvine, to hear the Omagh Inquests.
Mr. Leckey was educated at Friends School, Lisburn, and Queen's University, Belfast. He was admitted as a solicitor in 1974, and was in private practice until 1991.
During the period 1985 to 1991 he served as HM Coroner for Greater Belfast.
He is a Commission Member with the Criminal Cases Review Commission, the remit of which is to investigate alleged miscarriages of justice.
Mr. Leckey, who is 52 years old, is married with two sons, and his interests include golf, reading and theatre. He is the co-author of Coroners' Law and Practice in Northern Ireland.
