WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE KIDDING MR. MACKEY?

Who do you think you are kidding Mr. Mackey

SIR,
I have read with disgust at the visiting of the Geneva Convention on Human Rights by Mr. Francie Mackey, chairman of the 32 County Sovereignty Group. The Human Rights Association of American Minorities convenes this conference and the International Rights Association also supports this.
The Godfather of Terrorism will hijack this worthy cause and will use it to further the aims of the very small minority, those who promote acts of terrorism. This is the opposite of democracy.
The right to self determination that Mr. Mackey espouses has the following meaning: The individual has the right to say where and how they live.
Sadly, Mr. Mackey and followers removed that right from 31 people on the streets of Omagh, two short years ago.
Something, he says, he will never apologise for. I note that he says in the article that his group will peacefully challenge the British.
Mr. Mackey says that the illegal claim to part of Ireland is contrary to wishes of the greater majority of the Irish people.
I would ask if this man can prove his point by producing statistical evidence, or has he assumed he now has the support of the small minority, disillusioned by the peace process.
It is felt that this man lives in a fantasy world when he says, that there is no link between the group, the 32 County Sovereignty and the R.I.R.A. Whom does he think he is kidding?
The fact that both groups came into being shortly after the majority of the population of North and South Ireland supported the Good Friday Agreement seems to contradict the statements and propaganda now promoted by this man.
Perhaps he will eventually realise the error of his assumptions, but the questions are: How many innocent people will lose their lives before he realises what a dream world he and his followers inhabit?
Is this man to become a peace ambassador when such hurt has been perpetrated on the people of his hometown of Omagh?
Perhaps the American Visa denial proves that this man and his followers are considered a threat to the American people and as such, any means at the Governments disposal will be used to protect them.
Yours LAURENCE RUSH
Omagh
