CD TO AID OMAGH FUND

CD to aid Omagh Fund

THE culmination of nearly two year's work is set to be released shortly when Fusion hits the shops on April 10.
In the spring of 1998, under the auspices of the European Programme of Peace and Reconciliation, 24 young people from St Anne's Youth Club in Sligo, and Omagh Youth Centre came together to begin work on an ambitious music project, involving the composition, recording and production of a CD.
The projects aim was to bolster cross-border relations and learns about the different aspects involved in creating a music CD.
During the following months the group met regularly to compose four songs, work which was stalled by the bombing in August of that year.
Although many in the groups had lost family and friends they showed a commitment to stay together, with the music helping them to cope with their grief.
In November of last year the group made it into the recording studio, and after a gruelling four-day schedule their task was completed.
The finished CD is a compilation of four very different songs from pop, to ballads and rock.
All proceeds from the sales will go to the Omagh Fund and to other charities.
