Shop to close for rebuilding
AN OMAGH gift shop is to close at the end of November, pending a full reconstruction of the premises.
Nicholl and Shiels have been operating only from the Market Street premises since the August bomb put their drapery and household goods shop at Dublin Road corner out of business.
Mr. Clarke Shiels said this week the move was not directly related to the bomb. Before the blast he had been planning a partial reconstruction of the Market Street premises, he said."
"The Market Street premises need some repairs as a result of the bomb, but it would not make a lot of sense to carry those out when we intend to rebuild completely," he said.
Mr. Shiels said he had not yet decided if he would reopen at Dublin Road. The rented premises he has been using may not be ready for reoccupation for up to 18 months, he added.
The 15 full-time and part-time staff will be laid off during the rebuilding, which could take about a year, Mr Shiels said.
