STANDPOINT APPLAUDED

STANDPOINT APPLAUDED

Sir,
I wish through your newspaper, to tender my full and unequivocal support to the actions of Omagh councillors Johnny McLaughlin and Ann Gormley, who stated in no uncertain terms their conscientious objections to the bold presence of Councillor Francis Mackey at last Tuesday night's first full meeting of council since the devastating bomb blast of August 15.
They admirably delivered their standpoint.
These two highly principled councillors took the only route open to them in all conscience, and said what had to be said.
Mr. Mackey forfeited all rights to be afforded even a fool's pardon for the despicable manner he brought infamy on himself and on his own doorstep, but far, far more importantly the way he insulted the very being of the Omagh townspeople reeling after the horrific bomb blast.
Yours, Derry Road resident
