THOSE GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN (POEM)

Those gone but not forgotten

Saturday began with a clear sky of blue
Omagh's town packed, people shopping to do;
The usual bustle, a smile or two.
Stopping to speak to those you knew;
All of a sudden interrupted by fear,
The bomb warning caught everyone's ear
Ushered from shops, vacating the street.
To the bottom of town where we'd do meet;:
All of a sudden a deafening bang,
A massive explosion, alarm bells rang;:
A cloud of smoke, the screams you hear,
The dust fell and the truth became clear:
Burst pipes flowing a mixture of red,
Bodies, shapes, some alive, a lot dead;
Panic, shock, lights flashing blue,
Turmoil and horror a nightmare come true;
Glass and debris, a town blown apart;
A dark cloud fell on Omagh that day,
It will linger forever and won't go away;
So many innocent lives lost, maimed and distraught
How will time begin to heal this terrible plot?
