IMPRESSED BY KINDNESS OF OMAGH PEOPLE
Impressed by kindness of Omagh people
Sir,
My wife and I had the very real pleasure of visiting your beautiful town on a trip to Ireland last year.
We were impressed not only by the physical charm of your town and beautiful countryside of Co Tyrone, but also by the kindness and warmness of your people.
The fact we liked the place so much we stayed extra time to enjoy the people and the countryside around and about the town of Omagh.
We were absolutely devastated to read in the newspapers here in New Zealand of the terrorist bomb and see on our television screens the awful sight of the damage caused to the people and buildings of your town.
Our hearts go out to you all at this time of your sorrow.
Our sympathy goes to those who have lost loved ones and we pray that those injured will soon be restored to good health.
The people of New Zealand have a great empathy for all the people of Ireland, both in the North and South, indeed many of our finest citizens trace their roots back to your beautiful country.
The similarities between Ulster and New Zealand are many, so to a great number of us Kiwi's even though we are 20,000 kilometres away from your shores we are very close to you in spirit, so the bombing of the innocents was an outrage to us also.
We fervently hope that this is the final time your lovely country and your warm and generous people suffer this wilfully inflicted wickedness.
Yours,
Kevin and Jill Rose,
