EDUCTATION BOARD SYMPATHY

Eduaction board sympathy

MEMBERS of the Western Education and Library Board and its officers observed a one-minute silence at their monthly meeting last week, in tribute to the victims of the Omagh bombing on August 15.
Acting chairman, Mr. Derek Nixon, told members that it was the first full Board meeting since the - "terrible tragedy" in the town, and it had affected members of the Board, and in particular, Mr Crawford McFarland, whose niece, Samantha McFarland, was one of those killed.
Mr Nixon also said the act of respect was for all those killed or injured in the last 30 years of violence in the province, but particularly for those in Omagh.
Following the act of reflection, Mr. McFarland thanked everyone for their "very fond words of sympathy" on behalf of his family circle.
