IRVINESTOWN HOUSEWIVES SPEARHEAD ORGANISATION OF EVENT FOR OMAGH FUND

Irvinestown housewives spearhead organisation of event for Omagh fund

The people of Irvinestown, in an expression of sympathy, have decided to organise a community dance in order to raise money for the Omagh Memorial Fund.
The drive and impetus for the fund-raising initiative has emerged, not from the usual avenues of existing community groups, but from two local housewives Dawn Farrell and Angela McGowan, who felt that a fund-raiser could be one of the few ways to express the heartfelt sympathy generated right across Northern Ireland.
To date, and with the assistance of local businesses, the girls have attracted quite a line-up of performing artistes and prizes to give away on the night.
Billed bands and personalities include James Peake, Bernard McHugh, Oakridge and Young Thomas Gillespie from 'Stars in your Eyes'.
The business community has also been generous in its commitment to this cross-community fundraiser.
For example, the Brian McEniff Hotel Group has offered a weekend break in any of their luxurious hotels, and Mullan Brothers have offered several items of quality home furnishings with many other wonderful prizes on offer.
A representative from Omagh District Council will be there on the night to collect the raised money.
The dance is to take place on Thursday October 1 in the Delaney Suite (supported by Mahon's Hotel) and tickets cost £5 for adults and £2.50 for senior citizens.
Tickets can be obtained from local shops and businesses, or phone (013656) 21977 for further details.
