OMAGH FUND TRUSTEES ARE NAMED

Omagh fund trustees are named

The names of the five trustees who will distribute contents of the Omagh Fund have been announced.
Omagh District Council invited the cross-community panel to administer the money donated by the public in the aftermath of the Market Street bomb.
The trustees, who all have a background of community welfare and charity work, are;
Sean O'Dwyer, who retired as deputy chairman of Desmond and Sons Ltd in 1996, and currently holds a number of non-executive directorships. He was formerly pro chancellor of the University of Ulster, and served as treasurer of the Claudy Appeal Fund.
The Duke of Abercorn, well-known public figure in both the Omagh district and the wider community.
Dr. Clifford McCord, who retired as a GP having served the communities of Aughnacloy and Ballygawley for 40 years. He previously sat on the medical advisory committee of the Southern Health and Social Services Board and on the medical referee service of the DHSS. He has also been active member of several local welfare committees.
Mrs Joy McCormick, from Co. Donegal, is secretary and founder member of Inishowen Women's Network. She was involved in the initiation and management of the Citizens Advice Bureau in Londonderry, and is currently a member of the department of equality and law reform monitoring committee in Dublin.
Dr. Aideen McGinley is currently chief executive of Fermanagh District Council and chairman of the Northern Ireland millennium committee. She was founding NI and UK member of the National Lotteries charities board and a former chairman of the BBC NI appeals advisory committee.
The trustees will explain the principles under which they will operate at a press conference on Tuesday.
In the meantime, those who consider themselves to have been adversely affected by the events of August 15 have been asked to contact Mr. Brian Oliphant, Fund Manager, at Lisnamallard House Old Mountfield Road, Omagh, on 259575.
