SONGS OF PRAISE WAS FITTING TRIBUTE

Songs of Praise' was fitting tribute

Sir,
As a music lover for a long number of years, I write to express my profound appreciation of the recent TV 'Songs of Praise' transmission from Omagh.
It was evident in the short time available to prepare the programme that every aspect of it was treated with taste and sensitivity.
The interviews were all very moving. The hymns selected were most appropriate and the singing of the beautifully balanced and well-dressed young choir was simply superb.
I thought that both the soloist and narrators renditions were a sheer delight to listen to and faultlessly delivered.
All in all, the whole performance not forgetting the film sets, if that is the proper description in the tragic circumstances was a fitting tribute following the dastardly atrocity in our town.
We are very much indebted to all the participants and also the programme producer, especially for including the 23rd Psalm with band accompaniment used during the 'Service of Reflection' at the Courthouse the previous week. We are also grateful to BBC2 for the repeat showing the following Sunday.
Yours Sincerely,
W.B.
Hospital Road,
Omagh.
