Tyrone prepares for Queen's visit
THE Queen will visit Northern Ireland next week as part of her Golden Jubilee tour of the United Kingdom.
The Queen and other members of the Royal Family will take part in many events throughout the UK in the coming weeks.
She will be in Northern Ireland at the start of next week.
It is understood that the Queen is to visit venues in Tyrone and Fermanagh.
A Garden Party at Loughry College in Cookstown is understood to be on the Queen's itinerary. A second Garden Party will be held at Hillsborough Castle.
Among other events she will take part in is a service in St. Anne's Cathedral in Belfast.
While there has been much speculation as to where the Queen might visit during her stay in the province, a spokesman at the Northern Ireland Office said yesterday (Wednesday) that it was unlikely there would be any official public confirmation of venues or activities in advance of the visit.
At the time of the Omagh bombing, in which 29 people and unborn twins were killed, there had been reports of a possible visit by the Queen.
Meanwhile, with the jubilee fast approaching, organisers of events throughout the west are making final preparations for special events.
Parties, concerts and street events are being planned in the weeks ahead throughout the Omagh and Strabane areas.
