NESBITT TO PLAY BEREAVED FATHER IN OMAGH BOMB FILM
Nesbitt to play bereaved father in Omagh Bomb film
COLERAINE-born actor, James Nesbitt, famed for his roles on the small screen and his leading role in the film Bloody Sunday, is tipped to play bereaved Omagh bomb father, Michael Gallagher, in a movie about the Omagh bombing, it has been revealed this week.
The Ulster actor, said to be very moved by what occurred in Omagh, is to take a lead role in a controversial new film about the Market Street bombing, the focus of which will be the families' fight for justice.
It is reported that writer and director, Paul Greengrass, is believed to be already working on the script and is keen to work with the Coleraine born actor again, following the success of Bloody Sunday.
It is understood that the film will focus on the victims' families and their fight to have those responsible for the Real IRA bombing convicted.
Nesbitt is said to have been very moved by what happened in the town on August 15,1998, and is said to believe that this will be a very important film to make, while playing the part of Michael Gallagher, whose 21-year-old son, Adrian, died in the bomb, will be challenging and emotional.
However, roles for the new film will not be decided until the script is finished, and no confirmation of roles in the film will be confirmed publicly until then.
