Post mortem pictures sent to Prime Minister
THE father of a 12-year-old Omagh bomb victim has sent photographs taken at the post mortem to the Prime Minister.
James Barker was one of the 29 people killed in the August 18 1998 bombing. At the time the family had been living in Buncrana, and James had been on a day trip to the Omagh area.
Now his father, Victor, has sent the pictures to Tony Blair in protest at what he sees as new concessions to Sinn Fein.
Mr. Barker has slammed the proposals to allow Sinn Fein MPs to use offices at Westminster.
In a letter, Mr. Barker called on the Prime Minister to show the photographs to Sinn Fein leaders to remind them of the carnage caused by the Real IRA bomb.
Mr. Barker said it was "a scandal" that Sinn Fein had been allowed offices at Westminster.
"While seeking to have that facility, these people specifically refuse to encourage any of their supporters to give information concerning those responsible for the Omagh bomb", Mr. Barker's letter said.
It went on: "The people who did that are their former colleagues and to pretend they have no association with them in absolute nonsense."
Mr. Barker also asked the Prime Minister: "Is the real reason why the Omagh bomb investigation has proved so worthless not only down to the RUC, but also the failure of your security services to give assistance to them in the investigation? Or is is your real concern that the trail may lead to others involved in the peace process and thus threaten to derail it?"
