Bright news also came with the announcement that Donna-Marie McGillion, who suffered horrific injuries in the Omagh bombing, had been selected as one of seven recipients of the title Bravest Women in Britain Award. The brave wife and mother dedicated the accolade to the people of Omagh.
Relatives of some of those killed in the August 1998 atrocity in Omagh, called for a full public enquiry into the way the bombing had been investigated by police. Their call came after the Police Ombudsman for Northern Ireland, Mrs. Nuala O'Loan, published her report on the police operation, which claimed that the chances of detaining and convicting the guilty had been significantly reduced by 'seriously flawed' judgments by officers at the very top of the police command structure.
