Meanwhile as the middle of August approached so to did the third anniversary of the atrocity of the Omagh Bomb.
On August 15 a short memorial was held at the Garden of Remembrance, marking the third anniversary of the fateful day.
In addition to family flowers and floral tributes a wreath on behalf of the people of Omagh was laid by a representative of the Omagh District Council.
Meanwhile, the end of August saw the beginning of an official enquiry into claims that an informer gave police information that a bomb attack was being planned by the Real IRA two days before the Omagh bombing of August 15, 1998.
Investigating the claims, continually denied by the former RUC made by a former double agent, was the Police Ombudsman, Nuala O'Loan
