BYRNE CALLS FOR BAN ON REAL IRA EASTER PARADE
Byrne calls for ban on Real IRA Easter Parade
WEST Tyrone SDLP Assemblyman, Mr. Joe Byrne has called upon the Irish Republic's Justice Minister, Mr. John O'Donohue, to ban the planned Real IRA Easter parade in Dublin.
Mr. Byrne said: "The plans by the Real IRA to parade through Dublin at Easter are outrageous and an insult to the people of Omagh and all right-thinking Irish people. They have nothing to offer the people of Ireland only violence and the failed politics of the past."
"They refuse to accept the will of the people of this island who want a new society in the North and who endorsed the Good Friday Agreement by a massive majority," he continued.
Mr. Byrne concluded: "Considering that the Real IRA is an illegal organisation not on ceasefire, and the perpetrators of the Omagh bomb are still at large, I would appeal to the Republic's Justice Minister, Mr. John O'Donoghue, to think again and consider banning this parade on the grounds of incitement to violence."
