MODEL MAIMED BY LOSS OF LEG TO MEET BOMB INJURED
Model maimed by loss of leg to meet bomb injured
HEATHER Mills, the model who lost a leg in a serious car accident, will meet some of the Omagh bomb victims at the Tyrone County Hospital on Saturday morning.
Despite her handicap, Heather has continued to pursue a successful career as a model, television presenter and writer of a best-selling autobiography, 'Out on a Limb'.
Following the Market Street bomb of August 15, last year, Heather wanted to offer her help and support to the victims of the bomb - particularly those who have lost limbs.
She will meet privately with them and their families in the rehabilitation unit at the hospital.
During a recent visit to Omagh, the Minister for Health, Mr John McFall, announced the allocation of additional money to address the needs of health and social services in the aftermath of the bomb.
This has enabled the Sperrin Lakeland Health and Social Care Trust to refurbish a rehabilitation unit at the County Hospital, which will be of benefit not only to victims of the bomb, but to members of the local community who require physiotherapy and occupational therapy.
The unit has also benefited from fundraising activities, including an art auction held in Dublin last October, which raised �150,000. Such donations will allow for the purchase of new equipment for physiotherapy and occupational therapy and the intensive care unit.
