STARS OF THE FUTURE' CONCERT BOOSTS FUND
ABOUT �2,000 was raised for the Omagh Memorial Fund at a 'stars of the future' concert in Gortin/Rouskey Social Centre.
Organisers say it was a chance for many to show their solidarity with those who suffered in the bomb blast of August 15.
The entertainment was of a high standard, and there was special admiration for the courage shown by Claire Gallagher, who was part of the Loreto Grammar School GCSE music class choir. Claire lost her sight as a result of the explosion.
The organisers say they hope that stars of the future will be among those who took part, and they will go on to greater things. Among those to have appeared at the centre over the past three years and done just that are Birdy Sweeney, of Ballykissangel fame, and Niamh Brown, now with Riverdance.
People from all sections of the community attended the event, and a good night's entertainment was had by all.
The evening was introduced by Sinead McLaughlin, and music was provided by Brian McDevitt and Eugene McGonagle.
Along with the Loreto choir, others on the bill were Jacqueline McKay and friends; St. Joseph's Set Dancers; Gareth McNamee; Peter Haughey Michelle Hackett; the Brogan Family and the McGuigan Sisters.
