MAUREEN MURPHY TO APPEAR WITH OMAGH MUSIC SOCIETY

Making a welcome return to what she considers her 'home' town, Maureen Murphy, daughter of the former chief officer of the Western Education and Library Board, Michael Murphy, will be singing the Soprano solos in Omagh Music Society's presentation of Bach's Christmas Oratorio, in First Omagh Presbyterian Church on Tuesday at 7.30p.m.
Miss Murphy last sang with the Society seven years ago in 'Handel's Acis and Galatea, and is as eager to sing in Omagh again as her admirers are to hear her.
Indeed the other soloists are familiar names and firm favourites of Omagh music lovers. They are Alan Boyd (Alto), Eugene O'Hagan (Tenor), and Eric Hinds (Bass). The organist is again the ever popular Neale Agnew.
Bach's Christmas Oratorio has long been a firm favourite but those who are not familiar with the complete work will recognise many old favourites amongst the dozen or so Chorales.
The proceeds are in aid of Omagh Memorial Fund. Combined ticket and programme is available from members of the Society or from the Tourist Information Office subscription £6 (concession £5).
