DESMONDS AID OMAGH FUND
Presenting a cheque for the Omagh Memorial Fund of �23,000 to Omagh District Council's chief executive, John McKinney (fourth from left), is Denis Desmond, chairman of Desmond and Sons, and employees of the firm. They are, from left, Jackie Goan, who works at the Omagh factory, and who was a close friend of Esther Gibson, a victim of the bomb, Gerry McColgan, manager of the Omagh factory, Joyce Hazlett, training officer at the Omagh site, and Pat Phillps, a supervisor at the factory. Most of the money was raised through individual donations and from the 'charity chests' of each of the warehouses and factories, while �10,000 was donated by the company itself.
