ACADEMY REMEMBERS PAST PUPILS

Academy remembers past pupils

THE traditional custom at Omagh Academy of paying homage to the Fallen on the 11th day of the 11th month was held yesterday morning (Wednesday) when a Remembrance service was held in the assembly hall.
Following the singing of a hymn, with the praise being led by the school orchestra, the Academy roll of honour was read.
Senior staff at the school led the proceedings, while the names of past pupils who gave the Supreme Sacrifice and the names of those connected with the school who died in the Omagh bomb on August 15, were read by the head boy, Ryan Wilson, head girl, Karen Given, deputy head boy, Tristan Golligher and deputy head girl, Laura Griffin.
A minutes's silence was observed and the service ended with the singing of the National Anthem.
