WORLD RENOWNED FLOWER ARRANGER TO VISIT OMAGH

World renowned flower arranger to visit Omagh

THE Omagh Memorial Fund is to benefit from a floral art demonstration at the Silverbirch Hotel, Omagh, on Thursday, November 25.
The event is being organised by the social events committee of Trinity Presbyterian Church, and international floral artist, Rev. William McMillan, will be displaying his talents.
An ordained clergyman, he is an ecclesiastical historian and a recognised author and lecturer, as well as a keen plantsman and gardener, and it was his interest in horticulture that sparked his interest in floral art around 20 years ago.
With the exception of South America, Mr. McMillan has demonstrated his floral art skills in all continents of the world.
This year he visited Russia to demonstrate in St. Petersburg, Moscow, and he also made a return visit to San Francisco, where he gave the major demonstration in the 'Art in Bloom' exhibition.
He was also invited to give a demonstration at the Art Gallery in Salt Lake City after Easter.
His forte has been in designing and directing flower festivals, and recently he took part in the 1,400th anniversary celebrations at Canterbury Cathedral designing exhibits for the crypt.
The majority of Mr. McMillan's floral art demonstrations have been in aid of children's charities, and in recognition of his work the National Society of Flower Arranging Societies of Great Britain made him a special associate of honour.
Mr. McMillan is also a competitor at major international events, and when the World Association met in Canada he was not only one of the demonstrators, but won the best in show award.
Tickets for the Omagh demonstration are available from the Silverbirch Hotel, local flower shops and Olive Parke, 7 Knocksilla Park, Omagh. It is a ticket only event.
