FOOD AND ARTS FESTIVAL BOOSTS FUND

ARTS FESTIVAL BOOSTS FUND

THE Omagh Memorial Fund benefited to the tune of 500, following the successful International Food and Arts Festival held in the town last month.
The money was presented to the chairman of Omagh District Council, Mr. Sean Clarke, on behalf of the Fund, by the festival organiser, Mrs. Rose McCrystal, who also presented a seeding grant of 200 to Ishrat Hassan, the vice chairwoman of Omagh Ethnic Communities Support Group (OECSG).
The launch of the group, a recognised Millennium Project, was a milestone for Mrs. McCrystal, who officially launched it at the Festival, and its aims are to help the various ethnic communities in the Omagh district to support each other and network with the local community.
Among those to wish the group well was the Mayor of Antrim, Mr. Paddy Marks, who sent a congratulatory letter, and Mrs. McCrystal has paid tribute to those who have helped from other organisations.
These include Lisnaskea Women's group, the Multi-Cultural Resource Centre, North-West Ethnic Communities Association, Northern Ireland Filipino Community in Action, and Omagh council representatives.
She also paid tribute to those who helped co-ordinate and host the International Food and Arts Festival, and the special guests, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Millar.
