HOPE (POEM)
Hope
On Sunday in Omagh town, people flocked in their masses,
To stand united, draw comfort from each other, as the anniversary day passes.
We've all feared this day, consumed with its painful memories and low mood,
But we've survived a year, to journey here, to embrace our share of soul food.
Yes we've all been touched, bruised, some broken, some lost, but always held hope,
As a result of being lifted, supported, somehow we've found inner strength to cope.
We had our family, friends and trained help to lend an ear,
Enjoyed kindness, good deeds, always encircling, goodwill always near.
Some families suffer and endure their pain of loss, more deeply with the passing of time,
But one day, hopefully one day, they can smile and notice the sun shine.
Close to our hearts, we wear memories of our loved ones smiling sweetly,
Where they're watching over and guiding us, forever and completely.
We'll try to remain strong, not be daunted, tempted to stray from our belief,
Their spirit will light and guide our way steer the pace of our grief.
They'll catch every falling tear, their smile present in the things we adore,
Urging us on, they're now resting in peace where suffering is no more.
They'll shower us with graces, little reminders, that their life was not in vain,
Maybe one day we'll remember them without the vast presence of pain.
Only one thing separates us now that space the passing of time,
The bond remains stronger their only request our own peace of mind.
They're in the midst of our anger, depression, frustration and sorrow,
But will gently urge us to partake and be alive in tomorrow.
They only closed a door to be replaced instead by a vast shore,
They'll never forget or abandon us, their presence is in dull days in all moods we feel,
Like a vast sea, they'll sweep in and out of our lives to cleanse and to heal,
And because, they have already paid the ultimate price,
They want us to try and experience happiness and enjoy the good
things that they left in this life.
