The Omagh Bombing First Anniversary Arrangements
STREET CLOSURES
Market Street will be closed to through traffic from the close of business on Friday evening, 13th August and will re-open on Monday 16th August. The Town Centre and John Street and George's Street will be closed to traffic from Saturday night and will re-open on Sunday evening following the main anniversary ceremony.
FLORAL TRIBUTES
A temporary garden of remembrance for the laying of floral tributes has been created at Market Street. All flowers will be removed one week after the anniversary and mulched. The mulch will be used to sustain a special rose-garden which has been created at the Tyrone County Hospital in memory of the victims of the Omagh bomb.
SATURDAY 14th AUGUST
A short informal ceremony will be held at Market Street on Saturday afternoon. This will essentially be a private act of remembrance for the bereaved and injured of Omagh, Buncrana and Spain. Church bells will ring at 3.00 p.m., there will be a minute's silence at 3.10 p.m., followed by prayers and laying of wreaths. Shops and businesses in the town will close during this period, and traffic diversion arrangements will be in place. Omagh Methodist Church will be open from 12.00 noon to 4.00 p.m. for private and personal prayer, and at 6.00 p.m. an Anniversary Mass will be held in the Sacred Heart Church, Omagh.
SUNDAY 15th AUGUST
All Churches will be invited to use the anniversary prayer and readings in morning worship.
The main anniversary ceremony at High Street will commence at 2.55 p.m. All those attending are asked to be in place by 2.30 p.m. Orders of Service will be available at entrance routes to the town. The ceremony will end around 3.45 p.m.
SUNDAY AFTERNOON PARKING ARRANGEMENTS
People travelling by car are asked to park in the designated car parks on the edge of town and travel in by bus. A free bus service will be operating prior to and after the anniversary service.
The following Car Parks will be available:
Dublin Road- Dunnes Stores, Supervalu.
Campsie Road- Campsie Playing Fields (All-weather pitches)
Gortin Road- Greenhill Cemetery, St. Endas, Strathroy Chapel, St. Patrick's, Molly Sweeneys.
Dromore Road -Safeways.
Derry Road -Gortrush Industrial Estate, Omagh Business Complex, Omagh Agricultural Mart
Cookstown Road - Killyclogher Hall, Village Inn.
Drumragh Avenue Car Park, Omagh Leisure Complex Car Park and Johnston Car Park are also available.
Omagh College Car Park will be available for individuals with mobility difficulties.
Omagh Showgrounds has been reserved for the parking of coaches.
Those people living within walking distance are asked to travel by foot.

EXHIBITION
Petals of Hope: Rays of Light Exhibition a tribute to the victims of the Omagh bomb has returned to Omagh town library and will run from 9th-21st August. The exhibition, which features art forms created from the many floral tributes left in the town last year, a selection of the books of condolence and messages of sympathy, other pieces of art as well as a collection of patchwork quilts presented to Omagh by the Northern Ireland Patchworkers Guild, can be viewed during the following opening hours:
Monday 9.00-5.30
Tuesday 9.00-8.00
Wednesday 9.00-5.30
Thursday 9.00-8.00
Friday 9.00-5.30
Saturday 9.00-5.00 (Closed for lunch from 1.00-2.00)
On Sunday 15th August, the exhibition will be open to the public from 2.30 to 5.30 p.m.
