PRAISE FOR COURAGE OF YOUNG PEOPLE
Praise for courage of young people
THE chairman of the Youth Council for Northern Ireland, Dr. Michael Murphy, has commended the people of Omagh, and particularly the young people here, for their forgiving spirit and courage in the past year.
'People in Northern Ireland and in many parts of the world have hoped and prayed that you could, in some way, come through the horror and torment of that bombing. We all know that the terrible consequences will continue for many years, but now is a good time to reflect on what has happened," he said.
He said all of the people of Northern Ireland were proud of those in Omagh, who had shown, by their dignity and forgiveness, that Christianity and real human beings could overcome anything.
"We have been encouraged by your courage and fortitude. We wish to support you in your determination and commitment to keep going forward," he said.
"The Youth Council would wish the young people of the Omagh area to know that it appreciates the many sorrows and anxieties that you have faced over the past year, but, you have borne your burden with an amazing grace and understanding.
"The most significant commemorative of that terrible bomb is that your example shines forth as an edification to young people everywhere," he said.
