MEMORIAL PLAQUE FOR BOMB VICTIM IS DEDICATED
Memorial plaque for bomb victim is dedicated
A PLAQUE in memory of a much-loved victim of the Omagh bomb of August 15 was unveiled in Sixmilecross Free Presbyterian Church, during a special carol and dedication service.
After the opening hymn, Rev William Leonard invited Miss Esther Gibson's parents, William and Norah, to unveil the plaque bearing the words from Scripture:
'The memory of the just is blessed'.
Miss Gibson was fondly remembered for her work as a Sabbath School teacher and children's worker in the congregation, during the service which was attended by her family and fiance, Kenneth Hawkes.
A new piano, which had been bought with the money received in lieu of flowers, was dedicated at the service, and Mr Leonard paid tribute to the generosity of all those who had donated gifts.
Also dedicated was a music book for the piano, which had been bought by a member of the Sabbath school class. The inscription read: 'Dedicated to the glory of God, and in memory of my dear Sunday school teacher Miss Esther Gibson, from Stuart Quinn.' After the dedication prayer members of the Sabbath school sang, accompanied by Mrs Evelyn McLean on the piano. Also taking part in the service were members of The Campaigner Club, who recited poetry and sang.
The service ended with the annual prizegiving for Sabbath school attendance.
