GOVERNMENT MUST ACT ON TERROR
Government must act on terror
Sir,
Following the tragic events on Saturday August 15, may I, as a Tyrone (Tullywhisker) man now residing in England, offer my sincere and heartfelt condolences to all the people of Omagh.
Sadly, Omagh will now be remembered worldwide for all the wrong reasons, and will become synonymous with place names such as Enniskillen, Greysteel, Ballykelly, Loughinisland, and Warrington.
I hope and pray that the people of Omagh will now unite, and reject the bigoted and sectarian attitudes which have been the cause of so much sorrow in Northern Ireland, and throughout the British Isles.
Our Government must now act, as they have a binding responsibility to govern, for the good of all the people, regardless of class, race or faith. They must now stop pandering to terrorists, uphold democracy, and the rule of law. They must leave no stone unturned in the hunt for the perpetrators of this cowardly deed, and when they have been apprehended, they should feel the full force of our British judicial system, and be punished in accordance with their crime.
The early release of prisoners (criminals) programme should be halted immediately, and should not be reviewed until such times as those illegal organisations have been totally dismantled, disarmed, and put out of business once and for all.
Political front-men, and apologists for murder should be prevented from posturing on the world stage, and presenting themselves as ambassadors for peace. They should be denied the oxygen of publicity, which makes them appear respectable politicians in the eyes of the naive and less well informed.
If Her Majesty's Government fails to respond decisively, then, sadly, I fear there will be many more horrific acts carried out, in the months and years ahead, in the name of so called Irish Unity.
