METHODIST WOMEN EXPRESS SYMPATHY
Methodist women express sympathy
IN YEARS to come the date August 15 1998 will be inextricably connected with the bomb blast which devastated Omagh, and people will always remember where they were when they heard the news, the Londonderry District Methodist Women's Association (MWA) said this week.
"Thoughts will be with the homes that experienced the trauma and loss of loved ones, or the injuries sustained to those nearest and dearest to them," said district secretary, Mrs. Edna Deacon.
The district rally of the Association scheduled for September 5 in Omagh will not now take place, Mrs. Deacon said.
Said Mrs. Deacon: "The ladies from the different branches of the MWA throughout the Londonderry District extend their love and sympathy to all the families touched by this terrible act, and also to the emergency services, clergy and others who were involved in caring for the bereaved and the injured,
"There was great sadness in all those funerals and in the homes of those who were injured. But in the midst of our sadness the love of God can often flow through. In Isaiah 26 verse three we read: 'Thou dost keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee, because he trusts in Thee'"
And she quoted a poem which had brought her great encouragement in times of difficulty and stress:
Our lives are in God's loving hands,
In everything we do.
He is with us constantly,
He always sees us through.
And if our faith is strong enough.
We'll never walk alone.
For with His great and perfect love
He takes care of His own.
So any time that trials or burdens
Seem to come your way,
Find strength and hope in knowing
God is with you every day.
She said the thoughts and prayers of all the Association's members were with the people of Omagh and the surrounding districts.
