FOR BRYAN (POEM)
For several years Bryan White worked as a horticulturist for Strabane District Council and designed and planted flower beds and displays in many towns and villages throughout north and west Tyrone. This poem was written by a colleague:
For Bryan
The flowers, the plants, the shrubs, the trees
They're all we've left, they're memories
Of a boy, a son, a man, a brother
The heart and soul of a devoted mother
The pansies with their smiling faces
He planted in our public places
Will always watch the world go by
And see us as we softly cry
Lobelias planted on our land
Will hold the touch of Bryan's hand
The antirrhinums and alyssum white
Will brighten up our darkest night
We're all thankful for our flower beds
Full of marigolds with nodding heads
We won't forget as we walk by
To live in hearts we've left behind - is not to die.
