FIVEMILETOWN NOTES REMEMBRANCE SERVICE
Remembrance Service
SEVEN hundred people attended a remembrance service in Fivemiletown in the wake of the Omagh bomb atrocity. It was organised by the town's Chamber of Commerce, and took place in the Main Street, on Saturday afternoon.
The service was conducted by lay-reader, Mr. Robert Fyffe, on behalf of Canon Robert Riddell, of St. John's Parish Church, Fivemiletown.
It was opened by the singing of Psalm 23, and was followed by two minute's silence.
Prayers were led by Rev. George McFarland, superintendent minister of Fivemiletown Methodist Circuit.
Readings were by Mr. Alastair Gordon, who was deputising for Fr. Dolan, of St. Mary's RC Church, Fivemiletown.
Rev. Tom Greer, of Cavanalack and Aughantaine Presbyterian Churches, was unavoidably detained, but joined the assembled crowd in the town when the service was underway.
The service ended with prayer.
