BALLYGAWLEY NOTES DISTRICT SERVICE
District service
Aughnacloy Royal Black District Chapter No. 3 held its annual District Service in Ballygawley Presbyterian Church, at which there was a good attendance.
The Sir Knights assembled at the Roundabout and marched to and from the church headed by Crilly Pipe Band, and Standard-Bearers, Messrs. Noel Givan, Deputy District Master and Ian Graham. The service was conducted by Rev. Ian McClean, who brought greetings from his own lodge and district, and preached a challenging sermon.
The organist was Mrs. Bertha Robinson.
As a mark of respect for the injured and bereaved in the Omagh bomb, a short silence was observed and Mr. McClean led in prayer.
The soloist was Mr. Stephen Somerville, lay chaplain of Ballygawley RBP 281, who also welcomed all to the service.
The Scripture lesson was read by Mr. Winston Mulligan, district chaplain.
The collection was taken up by Messrs. Noel Erskine, district registrar, and John McCrory, district treasurer.
At the close of the service, Mr. James Cochrane, district master, thanked the members of RBP 281 for arranging the service, the standard-bearers and Crilly band for leading the parade, Rev. Norman McCormick and Session for the use of the Church, the organist and soloist, Mr. McClean, for conducting the service and for his challenging address, Mr. Winston Mulligan for reading the lesson, and the R.U.C. for directing the traffic.
