CLOGHER NOTES REMEMBRANCE SERVICE

Remembrance Service

ALMOST 500 people attended a remembrance service for the victims of the Omagh bombing in Augher's Main Street on Saturday afternoon.
The service was attended by members of the families of bomb victims, Avril Monaghan and Mary Grimes Grimes.
The service was conducted by Mr. William Wilson, and there were scripture readings by Parish Priest, Rev. Dawson.
The names of those who had died as a result of the atrocity were read out by Mr. Gordon McLaren, Mrs. Hazel Moore, Mrs. Una McElroy and Mr. Barney Hackett. This was followed by a minute's silence.
Prayers were said by Rev. Lindsey Blair, of Carntall and Glenhoy Presbyterian Churches, and there were readings by Liam McKenna and Nicola McKenna.
Mr. Dermot Monaghan, brother-in-law of the late Mrs. Avril Monaghan, thanked everyone who had supported the family since the bombing, including the emergency services and those who sent messages of condolence. He also thanked those who had organised the Augher service.
Closing prayers were by Rev. Brian Bower, of Augher and Newtownsaville Church of Ireland parishes.
