JOURNALISTS EXPRESS SYMPATHY THROUGH UNION

THE National Union of Journalists (NUJ) has expressed its sympathy to the relatives of those murdered and injured in the Omagh bombing.
Mr. Michael Fisher, chairman of the Union's Irish Executive Council, said that, as journalists, NUJ members were accustomed to reporting on events involving horror and bloodshed.
"But the sheer scale of the Omagh bombing had left reporters and photographers stunned," he said.
Mr. Fisher added that the media had played a crucial role in conveying the savagery of what had happened in Omagh to the wider public.
The NUJ president, Mr. Mark. Turnbull, has also expressed sympathy to the bereaved and injured.
