OMAGH DISTRICT WITHDRAWS FROM LAST SATURDAY DEMO AS MARK OF RESPECT

Omagh district withdraws from 'Last Saturday' demo as mark of respect

THE Omagh District Royal Black Chapter has withdrawn from this weekend's 'Last Saturday' demonstration in Donemana as a mark of respect for those who were killed or injured in the Omagh bomb atrocity.
The Castlederg and Strabane districts will continue with the demonstration.
The Omagh district preceptories are Cloughfin, Omagh, Newtownstewart, Mountjoy, Seskinore, Dervaghroy, Sion Mills, Ardstraw, Plumbridge,
Blacksessiagh and Reaghan.
A spokesman for the district said that at a special meeting, sympathy was extended to the bereaved, and prayers were offered for those injured.
The district will hold its annual service, organised by Seskinore RBP 304, in Fintona Parish Church on September 6.
The spokesman appealed for a good turnout of members at the service.
Meanwhile, the bomb atrocity will be remembered by members of the Institution during their religious service at Donemana.
The organisers have given details of the day's arrangements.
Preceptories arriving from the Plumbridge direction will leave their buses at the junction of Lisnarragh and Longland Road, while preceptories from the Strabane direction will gather at Berryhill Road.
All preceptories will then proceed to the assembly/demonstration field opposite Earlsgift Parish Church.
There will be car parking at Berryhill Road and Lisnarragh Road, with car parking for disabled drivers at Longland Road.
The procession will form up at lpm, and move off at 1.30. The route will take the parade along Longland Road, Lisnaragh Road and Berryhill Road, returning to the field at Earlsgift. The parade distance is about a mile.
A religious service involving officers of the participating districts will then take place.
The address will be by Rev. Robert Boyd, Magherafelt, chaplain of the East Tyrone District.
The districts will leave the field at 4pm.
The organisers say ample car parking and refreshments will be available, and have appealed to parade-goers to cooperate with marshals and the police.
