TERRIBLE SADNESS'
Sir,
I am writing to ask you if you would please convey through the pages of your newspaper my very deepest sympathy to all those good people over there in Northern Ireland who have been affected by this latest atrocity.
In the 1980s I spent two of the happiest years of my life in Omagh where I met some wonderful genuine people and was treated with nothing but kindness.
You can imagine the awful shock I got when we heard the news over here on the mainland. In a small way I felt personally involved.
Awful to see all the those poor people killed and maimed and to see the loved one that are left behind, I feel ones terrible sadness myself and can't even begin to imagine how devastated they must be feeling.
Today in the nursing home where I work my colleagues and the residents there remembered you all in our prayers. Our thoughts are with everyone and I only wish that there was something which I could do to help.
God bless the good people of Northern Ireland. You are in my thoughts.
